Powerhouse couple, Ken and Helene Barnett, have more than 20 years of experience in property management, leasing, cosmetic/structural renovations, and project consulting in New Orleans.

Helene and Ken met in Charlotte, North Carolina, where each had relocated for school and career opportunities. Shortly after Helene finished college, the two married and soon resigned from their jobs to move to NOLA; Helene was thrilled to return home and even more excited to share with Ken all the city has to offer!  This daring move would set the stage for their joint professional ventures in the years to come. After their first year as newlyweds, the couple took on the most challenging effort of their lives—the restoration of a 5,000 sq ft, historic home in the Uptown area into a 5-bedroom/5-bath Bed and Breakfast. Young and adventurous, they were ready to take on all that was involved. One day at a time for more than a year, the renovations were completed, and their B&B opened! For eight years, Helene and Ken worked tirelessly as innkeepers, creating lifelong friendships and priceless memories while gaining tremendous experience and confidence in the process. It was during that first year of renovations that Ken and Helene first realized that restoring old homes and determining how best to make them profitable would become their shared, lifelong passion, allowing them to merge their unique talents and experiences to ensure success.

Helene and Ken would go on to restore a dozen more properties in Uptown, New Orleans, over a 20-year span, all presenting their own unique challenges. These architectural jewels have ranged from small cottages to 5,000 sq ft diamonds in the rough, leading many in the area to credit the couple for playing a huge role in transforming their Uptown neighborhood. The Barnett’s consider the work to be risky, difficult and often stressful—but always personally rewarding! Having learned a great deal firsthand throughout their numerous undertakings (sometimes the hard way), the Barnetts recognized a need to help other individuals who want to invest in property. This led the couple to begin offering assistance to a range of friends and clients with renovations, finding great tenants for their rentals and managing property details that can quickly become too time-consuming or too daunting for the owners to take on themselves.

After 20 years of doing their life’s work, any conversation regarding real estate opportunities, NOLA’s historical architecture and prevailing housing trends still receives the Barnett’s undivided attention and puts a special gleam in their eyes!
